APEXX Global is a payment orchestration platform based in London that gives enterprise merchants one API connection to many acquirers, wallets, buy now pay later providers and local payment methods. It concentrates on routing each payment to the provider most likely to approve it or cheapest to use, and retrying soft declines through alternative acquirers. Travel companies feature heavily among its named customers.

How the platform works

APEXX describes itself as taking the place of the payment gateway rather than sitting on top of one. A merchant integrates once with APEXX, which holds the connections to acquirers and payment providers. For each transaction the platform chooses a route, sends the payment, and can retry through another provider if the first declines. Our orchestration explainer and cascading retries guide set out the general approach.

The home page names three routing mechanisms:

  • Intelligent routing (AIRE). Sends each transaction to the provider most likely to approve it.
  • Cost routing. Chooses the lowest cost processing option for each payment.
  • Decline cascading. Retries soft declined payments through alternative acquirers.

Consolidated reporting standardises data from all providers into one source for reconciliation. The site also shows an ISO 27001 badge and a Visa Service Provider badge, though the terms page does not say what these cover.

Products

APEXX groups its offer into three families on its home page and terms (2026).

Take Payments

Card payments, alternative payment methods, network tokenisation and BIN lookup. Cards include Visa, Mastercard, American Express and regional schemes. Wallets include Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. Our network tokenisation guide explains the token layer.

Payment Orchestration

The core platform with dynamic routing, cascading, Smart Split and Revenue Protect. The company's story page also mentions Surcharge Inspector, a tool it launched in 2018 to 2019 for checking card surcharges.

Data and Analytics

Consolidated reporting plus insight dashboards. A cost saving calculator is published on the site.

APEXX Connect

APEXX Connect gives access to buy now pay later providers through one API. The March 2023 funding announcement cited more than 12 providers; the 2026 home page cites 30+. These are separate dates from the company's own pages, so the later figure is the current claim.

Developer experience and integrations

The home page links to public API documentation with a sandbox, a support portal and a partnerships page. The partnership page describes three routes: platform partners (aggregators and acquirers), BNPL partners and channel partners, and shows logos for SAP (certified), Cardstream, CyberSource, RPGC Group and PPRO. It does not publish SDK lists or code examples on the pages we opened, so developers should read the API reference directly. Merchants should also ask which acquirer and PSP connections are live for their markets.

Payment methods, currencies and coverage

APEXX says its network includes 80+ acquiring banks and 30+ BNPL providers (home page, 2026; no date given for the figures). Alternative payment methods, bank transfers and direct debit vary by market. The story page says the company set out in 2016 to assemble global acquiring partners and more than 200 local alternative payment method integrations. It lists offices in London, New York, Pune and Bangalore. No country or currency list is published on the pages reviewed.

The home page also carries customer outcomes, all stated by the company and undated:

Customer Result quoted
TUI Group 5 new acquirers, 5 new payment methods and 11 million transactions over 18 months
CarTrawler 10% lower processing costs, 11% higher authorisation rates
Air Seychelles 8% higher acceptance rates
FAQ (all customers) AIRE improves acceptance by 8% to 12%

Treat these as marketing claims; results depend on each merchant's mix of cards, markets and acquirers.

Pricing model

APEXX does not publish prices on the pages we opened. The site offers a cost saving calculator and a contact route instead. Merchants usually pay the acquirers and providers they connect separately, so it is worth asking how platform fees are charged and whether any acquirer fees are passed through.

Regulation in brief

APEXX Fintech Limited is the company named in the terms and conditions, which are governed by English law. The terms do not state that APEXX holds a payment licence, and they do not name regulated partners, so licensing sits with the acquirers and providers a merchant connects to. APEXX displays ISO 27001 and Visa Service Provider badges on its site. For checking any authorisation, see our guide on how to check a financial licence.

Who it tends to suit

APEXX is commonly used by large merchants with high card volumes and many markets, especially travel companies, that want to manage acquirer relationships and routing themselves. Smaller businesses may prefer a bundled provider such as Rapyd or Paysafe. Comparable orchestration vendors include Gr4vy and IXOPAY. More options are on our gateways hub.
