Juspay is a payments technology company headquartered in Bengaluru that supplies payment orchestration, a checkout SDK (HyperCheckout), network tokenisation, payouts and an open-source orchestration switch, Hyperswitch. It started with large Indian merchants and says it now serves more than 500 enterprises and banks, with documentation for India, Brazil, Peru, Southeast Asia, Europe and North America.
What sets its technology apart is the combination of a hosted or SDK-based checkout with a routing engine that decides which of 300+ providers should process each transaction. For the general model, see our guide to payment orchestration.

How the platform works
Juspay positions itself between the merchant and its payment processors. Its Android documentation describes the arrangement: the merchant keeps control of the storefront and order fulfilment, Juspay controls the payment page, routes the transaction to a gateway and confirms the status, and the gateways are reached through one integration.
In the documented flow, the shopper starts checkout, the merchant's app launches the Juspay SDK, the SDK shows the available payment methods, and Juspay's backend starts the transaction with a gateway. The merchant then learns the outcome through the payment page response, a webhook or an order-status API call, and the shopper returns to the app with a success or failure result.
Routing
Juspay lists seven routing and reliability capabilities: fallback, predictive, risk-based, least-cost, outage alerts, custom rules and cascading. It describes two ordering modes. Rule-based ordering uses nested if-else logic with traffic splits and is said to be used by about 95% of merchants. Dynamic ordering uses reinforcement learning on recent success rates by instrument, network and origin country, keeps roughly 5 to 10% of traffic on lower-ranked gateways to keep learning, and is said to be used typically by the highest-volume merchants. Gateway health scores trigger pausing or rerouting when a provider falls below a threshold. Our guide to routing, cascading and retries explains these terms.
Products
Payment orchestration
The orchestration product connects to 300+ payment service providers and local methods, including 150+ local payment methods, across 150+ countries (Juspay page, 3 Nov 2026). It covers cards, wallets, buy now pay later, online banking, direct debit and real-time rails such as UPI and Pix. It also offers 3DS 2.2 with merchant-set rules, a custom fraud and risk engine with third-party fraud service support, A/B testing from 1% of traffic, a unified ledger and normalised PSP response codes. Deployment can be in the cloud or on premises with data-residency control.
HyperCheckout
HyperCheckout is the checkout layer for Android, iOS and web. Juspay lists one-click checkout for tokenised cards, including a flow without a CVV, a half-page checkout that avoids redirection, a configurable retry engine, outage alerts, an offers feature and a no-code design studio.
Tokenisation
Juspay says it is a certified token requestor and token service provider. The product handles token provisioning, refresh, suspension and deletion, includes a token vault that can work with third-party vaults, and has a monthly account updater. See our network tokenisation explainer for the background. Juspay's page states more than 200 million network tokens provisioned in one section and 150 million in the FAQ, so the exact figure is unclear.
Other products
- Recurring payments: subscription lifecycle with retries and dunning.
- Reconciliation: three-way matching across payment, PSP and bank data.
- Global payouts: card payouts via Visa Direct and Mastercard Send, bank transfers with local clearing in 50+ countries, real-time rails and e-wallet payouts.
- Offers engine: a no-code tool for managing customer offers.
- Industry packages: pages for airlines and hotels.
Hyperswitch
Hyperswitch is Juspay's open-source payment orchestration platform. On 22 July 2026 Juspay and Recurly announced a partnership under which Recurly would bring Hyperswitch into its ecosystem, using the Platform Organization mode to onboard merchants programmatically. Juspay says Hyperswitch connects to over 300 providers.
Developer experience and integrations
Juspay publishes regional documentation sites and API references for India, Brazil, Peru, Southeast Asia and Europe, with North America documented under Hyperswitch. SDKs are provided per region, and the company has also published an index file and a documentation server aimed at AI tools. Many integrations are described as no-code, meaning providers are connected through configuration rather than merchant development.

These are company-reported. Juspay names customers such as Amazon, Agoda and HSBC in different press materials, without describing which products each uses.
Pricing model
Juspay does not publish fees on the pages reviewed. The orchestration page includes headline claims of a 50% reduction in payment costs, 75% less engineering effort and 30% average recovery of lost revenue, which the company reports without a measurement method. Treat these as vendor claims rather than expected results.

Regulation in brief
Juspay describes itself as a technology provider and its pages list PCI DSS 4.0.1, ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications. The pages reviewed do not describe a payment licence held by Juspay itself. Merchants can check the position of any connected provider using our guide to verifying a licence. Details are on the Juspay orchestration page.
Who it tends to suit
Juspay is commonly used by large consumer and travel brands that process high volumes, need routing across many providers and want a customisable checkout, particularly in India, where UPI is central. Engineering-led teams that prefer to host their own switch may look at Hyperswitch. Merchants weighing other approaches can read our profiles of Razorpay, Primer and PayU, or browse the gateways hub.
